Ambassador Tseng, Excellencies, friends of Taiwan, ladies and gentlemen,
I take this opportunity to also warmly welcome everyone to this solidarity walk with Taiwan and to commend Ambassador Tseng for this important initiative.
As friends and partners of Taiwan, our walk with Taiwan this morning not only demonstrates the bond of friendship we share with the government and people of Taiwan but also and more importantly to stand united with them to send a clear message to the world of our support to Taiwan on its quest to be re-admitted as a participating member of the World Health Assembly and the World Health Organisation.
With Taiwan’s economic and development success in many fields, including in the health sector, Taiwan has the necessary capacity to contribute positively to global efforts in addressing the common health challenges we face today.
To the good people of Taiwan, let me assure you of the strong support and solidarity of the government and people of Solomon Islands on country’s efforts to participate in the World Health Assembly and indeed your re-admission to the United Nations.
The walk with Taiwan is also a good way to shed the excess calories so I hope everyone will enjoy the walk this morning.
